Hannah kept her promise. She took Samuel to live with Eli, the priest, at God’s house. One night, Samuel heard a voice: “Samuel!”  He ran to Eli. “I didn’t call ,” Eli said. “Go back to bed.” Three times Samuel heard the voice and three times he ran to Eli. Then Eli said, “It’s God’s voice. Next time he calls, say, ‘I’m listening.’” God called again and Samuel listened to God’s message.
