Thoughts on Dragon Boat Festival
五月的汨罗江
流淌着的是水还是泪
In the Miluo River in May
Is it water or tears that flow
烟雨江南，又是一年粽子香
人们怀想的不单是美食
In the misty rain south of the River, here is another year of sweetness of zongzi
What people think about is not only the delicious food
更是屈原那闪光的名字
与那段冲洗不淡的历史
But also the shining name of Qu Yuan
And the profound history that cannot be diluted
端午节的鼓声激烈响亮
赛龙舟的号子此起彼伏
The drums of the Dragon Boat Festival are fierce and loud
The chants of dragon boat races rise and fall everywhere
用这千年不变的方式
告慰一个不断求索的忠魂
In the way that has not changed for thousands of years
They want to comfort a loyal soul keeping on seeking truth
从那湿辘辘的故事里
打捞出民族不朽的精神
From the wet story
To salvage the immortal spirit of the nation

Who brings up the Dragon Boat Festival of my childhood
Letting me talk about the taste of zongzi in a foreign land
雄黄酒在飘香
让我思乡的情绪
从眼前延伸到遥望
Realgar wine is giving off fragrant
Which makes my homesickness
Extend from here to the distance
是谁把岁月吹老
让我把儿时的旧照珍藏
Who’s blown the years old
Letting me treasure the old photos of my childhood
龙舟上挂着的香囊
让我思念的情结
从心底蔓延到脸庞
Sachets hanging from the dragon boat
Make the complex I miss
Spread from the bottom of my heart to my face
是谁把琴弦弹唱
让我在他乡把亲人念想
Who plays the strings and sings
Which makes me in a foreign land, think of my beloved ones
艾草发着磬香
如烟的往事从我心底泛起
Mugworts giving off fragrance
The smoky past rises from the bottom of my heart
愿所有的亲人朋友
端午节平安吉祥
May all relatives and friends
Be safe and auspicious in the Dragon
