    SPECIAL SKATEBOARD TERMS

Riden (verb): Riden is the English name for skating, rolling, cruising ...

Rider (Name): A skateboarder is known in the jargon as a rider. This term is also used for other extreme sports.

Skater: a person who drives a skateboard.

Street skater: a skater who only drives on streets, outside of the skate parks.

Bowl rider: a skater who takes turns in bowls and ramps

Stance: it is your foot position on the longboard (Regular or Goofy)

Goofy: Here the right foot is in front, while the left foot is used for pushing

Regular: The left foot is in front and the right foot is used to give momentum

Mongo: This is the term used to describe pushing off the ground with the front foot (instead of the back), with the back foot remaining on the skateboard. The disadvantage is that the rider is less confident because the front leg has to be moved against the direction of travel when it is placed back on the board.

Switch: Engl. For change or toggle. When a trick switch is performed, the skater changes his basic position from Regular to Goofy or from Goofy to Regular.

Catching: When you "catch" the skateboard with your feet after a flip trick and push it towards the ground.

Entry / Exit: Performing tricks before / after a grind, slide or manual.

Landing: the skater lands back on the board after performing a trick

Slide: A category of trick in which you slide your deck (tail, nose or wheelbase) over an obstacle.

Grind: A category of tricks in which you slide over an obstacle using the axes.

    2. BASIC SKATEBOARD TRICKS

Nose manual: a type of trick in which you only drive over an obstacle on the two front rollers.

Ollie: The Ollie is the basis for all other jumping tricks. Simple goal: jumping up with the board. Using a certain foot technique, you can overcome obstacles, cruise and learn other tricks.

Fakie: When driving a fakie, the normally rear foot is on the nose and the other is roughly above the rear axle. You drive "backwards", so to speak.

Nollie: Foot position doing the trick. Front foot on the nose.

Backside 180: Describes which side of the body is turned 180 ° inwards in the direction of travel.

Frontside 180: Describes which side of the body is facing forward when turned 180 °. These rotations can also be carried out when driving a switch / nollie / fakie.

Boardslide: Skateboard trick in which you slide the middle of the board over rails, ledges, etc.

Lipslide: A lipslide is similar to a boardslide, with the difference that you don't lift your front axle, but your rear axle over the rail.

Tailslide: for this trick you first have to let the board slide over a surface with the tail.

Noseslide: with this trick you first have to let the board slide over rails or curbs with your nose.

50-50 Grind: Grind with both axes over the edge of the object (curb or coping).

5-0: Grind over the edge of the object with the rear axle.
