Day 78|2S【support, 人物虚实】

突然想起奥巴马2008年胜选时说那句——for those who seek peace and security, we support you.

support, 是可以说说而已的（虚的），也可以是实实在在的行动；

support, 可以是人发出的，也可以是物发出的。

如果以虚和实为横坐标，人和物为纵坐标，则可以分出四个象限来。

象限一：人实

I have a wife and two children to support . 我要养活妻子和两个孩子。

She supports her family by teaching evening classes. 她靠教夜课养家。

象限二：人虚

The bill was supported by a large majority in the Senate. 这项法案得到参议院绝大多数人的支持。

We need to support our teachers in their efforts to raise standards. 我们必须支持我们的教师为提高教学水准所作的努力。

象限三：物虚

The results support our original theory. 这些结果证明了我们原先的理论。

There is little evidence to support such explanations. 几乎没有证据支持这样的解释。

象限四：物实

The middle part of the bridge is supported by two huge towers. 桥的中部由两个巨型桥塔支撑。

This land can’t support many cattle. 这块土地养不了很多牛。
