Real 'n' Natural Spoken English

001 “Let me.”

for example: Let me go.  Let me see.

But fluent English speakers don't often say it like that. They say: “lemme”：

Many English speakers drop the T. Let me = Lemme

We use this word every day. It is not slang. It is normal natural spoken English.

Let me see. ——> Lemme see.

Let me try.  ——> Lemme try.

Alright let’s practice that together, Repeat after me:

Lemme see.

Lemme try.

Lemme go.

Lemme do it.

Lemme know.

Lemme think.

Lemme check.

Lemme look.

Lemme see what I can do.

Lemme go next.

Lemme think about it.

Lemme try it now.

002 Now in these next phrases the meaning of lemme is like “I need to”:

I need to go.  ——> Lemme go.

I need to go check first. ——> Lemme go check first.

For example: "Lemme go to the bathroom first."This isn't asking permission...It's something you would say to a friend.

It means, “I need to go to the bathroom first."

Remember the meaning of lemme is, "I need to.”

I need to say goodbye.

I need to make a call.

Now, Repeat after me:

Lemme say goodbye.

Lemme make a call.

Lemme check the mail.

Lemme get my things.

Lemme look at this.

Lemme close the door.

Lemme stop you right there.

Lemme be honest.
