在托福写作当中我们经常会使用比较级来说明自己相比于一个观点，更加支持另一个观点。最高级也会频繁出现在三选一题目作文中表明自己的立场。
不少同学写句子的时候经常会犹豫要不要加more，是否可以部分省略等细节问题，今天阿伦老师帮大家复习一下相关语法知识点，并纠正几个常见的语法问题。
比较级（comparative）和最高级（superlative）在英语中通常用于形容词和副词在程度或者数量级上的比较。（对于形容词和副词的语法概念不熟悉的同学可以看一下【教书匠阿伦-托福写作大讲堂第2期】中相关内容）
（1）常规的变化是在形容词或者副词后面填加er表示比较，添加est表示最高级；
（2）如果形容词或者副词是双音节或者多音节，一般在形容词前添加more表示比较，添加 the most表示最高级；
（3）部分形容和副词会有非常规的变化，比如good的比较级是better，最高级是best。

Several studies have suggested that people who read fiction are the smartest among peers.
Several studies have suggested that people who read fiction are more adept at reading people.
Several studies have suggested that people who read fiction are the most adept at reading people.

Several studies have suggested that people who read fiction have the best score in standardized tests.
以上6个句子分别对应了第一个问题中的3种形容词和副词类型的比较级和最高级的变化形式。
除此之外，similar to，different from，the same as 也可以进行对象之间的比较。
My hobbies are similar to yours.
The professor’s opinion is different from those of the students.
What Jack mentioned in the speech was the same as what Jane had told him.
一般来说，more和形容词比较级不能同时使用，以下句子属于语法错误。
His computer is more better than mine.
这种语法问题随着美剧的普及越来越多，因为在口语当中经常会使用more与形容词比较级的叠加来进一步强调程度之深，但是建议大家一定要注意区分口语和书面语，不要相互干扰，上一个句子可以修改成：
His computer is better than mine.
His computer is more expensive than mine.

英语的比较级中经常会在从句中使用省略，从而避免重复主句中已经出现相同的谓语、宾语、表语等其他成分。
I speak more languages than you do. （此处用do来替换speak）
This problem is more complex than that one. （此处用one来替换problem）
The products of this brand are more environmental-friendly than those of other brands. （此处用those来替换products）
English is more popular than other languages in China. （此处省略了other language后的表语are）
Language classes are more delivered by nontenured faculty members than most other subjects are. （此处省略了other subjects are后的delivered）
表示更少，程度更低的时候我们会在形容词前面加less，或者借助not as…as…的结构,表示数量的更少的时候对于可数名词用fewer修饰。
The problem is less complex than that one.
French is not as popular as English in China.
I speak fewer languages than you do.
形容词前可以加副词来表示程度，
The building is much higher than the others in this region.
I know a little more than you do about this project.
数量上可以用倍数来表示程度，
He earns twice as much as I do.
His salary is three times higher than mine.
