Do you play cards? Areyou a card shark?

Everyone ownsa deck of cards, that is the life.Someone messes a good card up, someone playsa poor hand well.

One of my cousins was born in a good family and he was very clever, he entered the best middle school in our city as one of the top10 students, all the families were proud of him. My aunt gave him much money as living expenses. But he destroyed his good cards. He became addicted to games and made friends with bad students. Anyhow,he had a good father, who arranged the college and job for him. He even bought a house and supported the child for him. Do you envy such life? But he never cherished it. He gambled and borrowed much moneyincluding usury. With heavy debt he got divorced and lost the job, even hisparents couldn’t save him.Now all the relatives and friends are dare toapproach him.How bad did he play a deck of good cards.

In contrast, myschool sister Xiajuan Hu,who you can search in Baidu turned a bad card into agood one.Xiajuan suffered congenital fissure, When she was 100 days old,she was sent for a surgery.Since then her life became dark. She lost the ability of walking and she was sent to a school for the disabled .Life was cruel to her but she never gave it up.Xiajuan entreated her parents to send her to a normal school so that she can gain more knowledge.Thought classmates laughted at her and didn’t play with her she kept reading and studying hard. Where there's a will, there's a way. She entered our university, majored in Bio-engineering as she wanted to resolve the problem of cancer, which took away the life of her loved grandmother. She was lucky our dean accepted her thought she was disabled.More, the Dean arranged her classmates to look after her daily life in turns. It seemed she was near to her dream. But one day of the last semester, the Dean talked to her:Juan,I know you worked very hard to reach your dream, but I don’t think Bio-engineering is the best choice for you as you need to walk a lot when doing experiments. This talking attacked her as a big thunder. She felt frustrated. But she knew the dean was kind to her, after careful consideration,Xiajuan decided to learn Psychology to help other people. In two months, she passed examination and entered Hebei Normal University as a psychology graduate student. Now she is a psychology teacher helping several thousands students now, also she is a writer who has published several books already. What a bad card Xiajuan has got, but through hernon-stop hard work, she played it so well that definitely deserves all of ourrespect and cheers.

Everyone holdsa deck of cards which was laid out when we were born or by our past years. Wecan’t change the cards on hand, but we can play it well to make the result better.

After my 30years’ birthday, I was fairly anxious as age brought me big pressure. I lookedat myself I found I had nothing. No satisfied job, no exceptional skills, nohouse, no marriage but the age. I really thought I was a loser. It was such abad card. But how to continue the game? After struggling and talking withfriends,I decided to get a tourist certificate, I got it and I’ve gained somepart-time jobs which offered me much sense of safety. Also I joinedtoastmasters to improve my spoken English and confidence, which is helpful formy career, now I find my career planning is much clearer.I am on the way.

Success is not about whether the good cards or bad cards you got, but the way you choose to play it. Even if you get the worst cards like Xiajuan, you can always choose the positive way to turn it into a meaningful one. Thanks
