Angela Merkel was born in hamburg, West Germany, in 1954. Her serious and demanding father took the whole family across the frontier to the East Germany where he took up ecclesiastical duties in a cobblestoned town called Templin. She was brought up in a seminary at Waldhof which served as a charity purpose for hundreds of physically and mentally disabled people. But the local people and government didn't treat the Kasners' migration friendly mainly because of a sharp cultural split between the East Germany and the West Germany. Nevertheless, the unwelcoming local community didn't cast a shadow on her childhood but instead, she developed a sunny and positive attitude towards her path throughout life, which can be partly attributed to the surrounding handicapped people.
She put up excellent performance in her study and earned a doctorate in quantum chemistry from Leipzig University. The fact that she was able to be endowed with opportunities to further education was put down to her accommodation with the East German system. She was also criticised for her fascination with Russian language and culture which were regarded signs of dictatorship. However, her critical opposition to the ruling regime was still revealed by one of her friends. Although she has suffered setbacks in her attempt to pursue political cause, her wisdom and foresight in political system have always made her move ahead of other opponents and propelled her on the way to be the Chancellor.
