A Deep Dive into Underwater Diving
Dear audience, I just went underwater diving in Malaysiathis national day holidays! I can’t wait to share my wonderful experience with youall.
Wait wait wait, you might want to interrupt, well, the pictures are great, but diving is just not my cup of tea. I don’t swim, is itis too professional for me? I have thalassophobia(深海恐惧症),is it too dangerous for me? I just want a cozy family trip, will it be too adventurousfor my little kids? You know what, everyone can dive! This national holiday, inmy WeChat Moments, posting about diving becomes very popular, almost as popularas posting about wedding. I have witnessed four of my friends get their divingcertifications, in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Caribbean. So, let ushave a deep dive into underwater diving together, and let me find a diving planthat suits you best!
Anyone plan a trip to tropical seaside, with yourfamily, and just want your trip fit for all the age groups? While your kids areplaying to their heart’s content, you are probably thinking, “all I want forthem is to go back home safely”(fingers crossed). Then, I will recommendsnorkelingdiving to you. This type of diving only requires simple equipment, and it is the most low-riskone. You will swim at the surface of the water, and look down upon the aquaticworld. But that is enough for a short trip to the nearby coral reefs. You don’teven need to learn how to swim because you can put on a life jacket to float.
Next, who are confident at your swimming skills? Doyou want to test your limit of holding breath in the water? Then I wouldrecommendfreedivingto you. Free diving is more of a competition-oriented sport, and it requiresnot only the skill of swimming, but also the skill of how to spend as much timeunderwater as possible. It has the same equipment as snorkeling diving. However, you can dive up to 18m in the water if you are a well-trained free diver. Doingfree diving, you can not only explore the underwater wonderland, but also buildup your body. Plus, you can even take tons of awesome pictures like this one.
Some of you might ask me, what if I cannot swimthat well, but I still want to explore the deep ocean? Anyone want to see giantturtles, lobsters or even baby sharks hiding in the dark? Then I would recommendscubadiving foryou. Doing scuba diving, you will have a whole set of equipment to enable you spendaverage 40min, up to 40m under the surface. You don’t need to be expert at swimming;all you need is the knowledge of using these devices. Scuba diving is a very popularsport near those famous tropical islands. You can either ask a diving trainerto take you for a fun dive; or you can get trained to be a certified diver sothat you can explore more freely with a local guide. There are several trainingorganizations around the world. You can get a certification from one of them, and go to any licensed diving centers. For example, I passed my first divingcourse (OW) in Ningbo. Then I took the certification to Malaysia, and finished mysecond one (AOW) there. So, if you are a big fan of mysterious submarine lives, shipwrecks or caves, (and if you are not a big fan of taking yourself pictures),do get a scuba diving certification!
Now you believe me, everyone can dive, right? Next time, if you travel to a coastal area, with beautiful coral reefs and fish, remember to find a diving center, and have fun diving!
