7. Dissect can mean ‘to cut up the body of a dead animal or person in order to study it’, and can also mean ‘to examine something carefully in order to understand it’. Can you see the link between the literal meaning and the figurative meaning?

8. Inconsolable = so sad or disappointed that it is impossible for anyone to make you feel better
