Lesson47 A thirsty ghost
A public house which was recently bought by Mr. Ian Thompson is up for sale. Mr. Thompson is going to sell it because it is haunted. He told me that he could not go to sleep one night because he heard a strange noise coming from the bar. The next morning, he found that the doors had been blocked by chairs and the furniture had been moved. Though Mr. Thompson had turned the lights off before he went to bed, they were on in the morning. He also said that he had found five empty whisky bottles which the ghost must have drunk the night before. When I suggested that some villagers must have come in for a free drink, Mr. Thompson shook his head. The villagers have told him that they will not accept the pub if he gives it away.

pub [pʌb] ； public house [ˈpʌblɪk] [haʊs] ；bar [bɑː]在课文中这三个都是酒吧的意思，刚搜了一下，还是有经营风格，大小，主题等一点区别的。
新概念主编的课文不是幽默风趣，就是令人联想不断。常常在查单词的时候就想，是不是埋有伏笔，后面会抖出一句点睛的笑话来。今天就想，村里人挺坏的，装鬼喝了免费的酒，还说即使白送小酒店也不要。虽然作者suggested Mr.Thompson,但是他却摇头不信。
