Dali

Dali, a quiet town in the south-east of China, is my hometown, which is not the place I was born in, but the place I choose to be.

It has a history of more than 2000 years, with a city wall surrounding it. Walking along the street in the old town, the flagstones underfoot will tell you their history. You may feel peaceful inside, when you look at the traditional houses along the street, which have stood there for a long long time. Grass on the roofs and cracks in the wall seem to tell you their stories.

There is a glorious mountain at its west side and a beautiful lake at its east side. Dali is the attractive place well-known by its symbols as wind, flowers, snow and moon.The wind in the wind season, the flowers everywhere, the snow at the top of the mountain and the moon over the lake, all are contribute to Dali’s beauty.

Dali is a place with high-altitude and low-latitude, so it’s cool in the summer and not too cold in the winter. Sunny days make people there feel comfortable most of the year. In the blue sky, ever-changing clouds are always charming. You will find it is easy to enjoy the amazing view just by looking up. That is why people there always like to take their time just sitting in a comfortable place and doing nothing.

The natives in Dali are mostly of Bai ethnicity. They have a fancy national costume and delicate architecture. But the most interesting thing in Dali is people who come from all over the world. They left their big-city-lives behind, and enjoy the lives full of sunshine in Dali. They know what is really meaningful in their life, without being misled by others. It is leisure in Dali, but the top secret of the life there is being yourself.

Although I have left Dali, I love Dali, I love people in Dali, and I love the life in Dali.
