Brave New World, 这个书名出自莎士比亚的诗，也由John the Savage第一次感叹出来。

阿道司赫胥黎在这本书中描绘了一个反乌托邦的世界：dystopia：

The world is characterized by soma consumption and recreational ritual sex. There's no extreme emotions: no love, no hate, no panic, no sorrow. Soma can help whenever you feel stuck. There's no father or mother, husband or wife. 

The society is caste system in which people are divided into five castes: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon. For each caste, they are conditioned to enjoy their "inescapable social stability". Bokanovsky's Process enabled the production of dozens of identical twins.  Hypnopaedia drilled the social norms into infants unconscious mind to ensure absolute subordination. Only Alpha have some more privileges than other castes, say, relative freedom.
