The secret garden

This is a book for kids. From the name I knew  it, maybe it’s a kind of childish if you read it, but i still made up my mind to read. Just because I have never heard this book before. I guessed maybe it’s a fairy tale or maybe just another version of Alice’s adventure in wonderland. However it’s not. It’s completely a new story to me. It conveys a spirit to encourage kids to be better, and could enlighten my soul as well. So now I’ll draw the simple frame to you.

Mary was born in India, she lived in a big house where lots of maids taking care of her, even though her parents had never paid attention to her. So that’s why she was mean ,irritated and cold blood. You can’t blame a 10 year old girl for her impolite manner because she never learnt this sort manner from her parents and other people surrounding her. All she had was the service from servants till most of them died because of cholera. She was taken to England Yorkshire moor where her uncle( Mr. Craven) lived.

She looked very plain though her mother was very very beautiful. It seemed like she inherited nothing about beauty from her mother. And she was very thin and had no might to do anything even eating. Fortunately, Matha is the maid to take care of her. She was a cottage girl who lived on the moor in her all life time. And she has 14 brothers and sisters, her mother taught her lots of ways to face life. From that time Mary  learned how to dress herself and started to find something amusing herself.

One day she went into the garden, she heard there’s a secret garden hiding somewhere, she decided to investigate it and made it as her own secret garden. Soon she encountered a bird that showed her where the secret garden key was buried. Nobody know the plot as it has been buried for ten years. She was so excited that she decided to make it as her own secret. From that day she became strong and healthy because she spent most of her time in the garden weeding, digging and planting. And her good friend Dicken( Martha’s younger brother)helped her all the time.

At a midnight she was awaken by crying, then she found Collin along the corridor, and knew he was her cousin. But he lied on the bed all the time and thought he would die very soon. He had an extreme bad tamper nobody was allowed to disobey his orders , he was a kind of prince. In this manor all the servants including his doctor and nurse have to follow his instructions in order to avoid his tantrums. But at that night when Mary entered his room, he liked her and hoped she can visited him very often.

After that day, Mary told him a lot of things about the secret garden and Dicken and his alive creatures. Collin interested in the secret garden so much that he wanted to see it. And somehow he think maybe the fresh air from the moor can do him good, and maybe he can live forever. That’s a great progress! As he started to change his mind and study another possibility of his miserable life. He may stand as straight as anyone, he may walk as well as anyone, and he is not a crisped one any more.

That’s definitely a good start. Few days later, Mary and Dicken wheeled him into the garden, and they played action in the garden. Once he found that’s his mother’s rose garden, he thought he could live forever and forever. With the help from Mary and Dicken, he stood on his feet as straight as anyone, gradually he can walk for a while. Then he began to give his lectures to others which about magic. If you believe magic and magic will happen, but you’d better believe the good magic. He always made him as the good example, magic made him stand when he believed he could stand, magic made him walk when he believed he could walk.

Due to the outdoors exercises and fresh air, he and Mary became stronger and stronger. The red color run on their cheeks, they rouse taller , their arms were not so thin as before, you even can see some muscles hanging on there.They were not two pride kids anymore.

At that time Mr. Craven who’s Collin’s father came back. He followed the voice in his mind. He had struggled in his miserable experience for ten years since his wife died. Till there’s a voice sounded in his dream “in the garden” “in the garden “, he returned to the manor and went straightly to the garden. There a young boy dashed into his arms. That’s his little child who he had ignored for ten years, who he thought a hunchback or a disabled person, who he thought going to die. However the boy is so lively so strong so boyish, just as the other cottage boys.

At that moment, all the miserable dreams passed away, they came back the hundreds years of manor together. The magic works, the fresh air from the moor do them good, make them live forever.

I like this story very much, it makes me think, that life could be short or long depending on your manner to it. You couldn’t need to hear other’s suggestions, the only thing you should insist is your faith. It’s a kind of magic, you believe in it and it will work and good things will happen to you! Vice versa.

It obsoletely  deserves believing. Try!
