Julia Child's name is now synonymous with the culinary arts, but she didn't actually start cooking seriously until the 1950s when she was in her 40s. After leaving her job with the government, Julia attended classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, simply because she loved French cuisine. It wasn't until she really dug into the minutiae of the kitchen that she uncovered a deep fascination with food and love of cooking.

Julia's words speak to cultivating growth within yourself. Food was something that she considered to be a hobby, something that she enjoyed but had only cursory information about. Once she said herself to study cuisine, true passion blossomed. Recently pursuing something doesn't mean closing other doors, but rather it can open opportunities that we previously couldn't imagine. Challenging yourself to stay interested is about continually fostering curiosity. It's an acceptance that there is always something new to learn, even in a field that you're, for all intents and purposes, an expert. By embracing that humility, you will always leave yourself open for more growth.

As you approach today, take stock of your hobbies and interests. What are you excited to know more about? Perhaps with a bit of extra care and learning, you'll discover your greatest burning passion.
