Encouragement, which every student needs, can promote the progress of students' academic performance. However,there can be too much of a good thing.We should encourage them appropriately and it is not wise to merely encourage them but not criticize them. From my teaching experience, I encourage my students mainly from the following aspects:
First,students should be encouraged when they make progress in their academic performance. A higher ranking can be encouraged, and a higher score in a single subject can be encouraged. At the meanwhile, we need to analyze the shortcomings of students and put forward suggestions for their improvement.
Second,students need to be encouraged when they do good things. Encouraging students who do good deeds can positively motivate students to develop good moral character, and also make them an example for other students, thus promoting the cultivation of good moral character of the whole class.
Third,teachers should discover the strength of each student. They should not only look at their shortcomings, because well goes an old saying" There are three hundred and sixty trades, and every trade has its master （三百六十行，行行出状元）". Every child cannot be measured by the only criterion. As a teacher, we bear a heavy responsibility. We should encourage our students to grow up with less indifference and criticism.
Four, as for different students, different ways of encouragement may be applied. For the proud ones , we should reduce encouragement appropriately. Instead, we should point out their shortcomings and suggest what improvements they should make. For students with low self-esteem（内心自卑） or introversion（内向）, they should be encouraged in public to enhance their self-confidence.
Five,praise publicly and criticize privately. In our modern time children's self-esteem is generally strong, public criticism does harm to students. What's worse, as time goes by, students will have a strong rebellious mentality, later it will be difficult to be managed. consequently,criticism should be done privately in the office.
In short, Encouraging language does not need to be exaggerated, just do it rightly. That's all my ideas about how to encourage students . Thank you!
