Decoration

I don’t know why the word “decoration” comes to my mind when I was reading books in the library. It reminds me of my college life three years ago when we had our oral English class. To me, this word is comical, to be exactly, it’s ironic. Why this common English word has ironic meaning. You may be confused. I will tell you the whole story. In our oral English class, only few students speak English frequently and answer question actively,the other students just sit on their chairs, keeping silent. So, most of my classmates were described as so-called “decoration” by our oral English teacher.

I have taken this phenomenon too much for granted before. Now I have a new thought. Who want to be decoration? I’m convinced that nobody want to be socalled decoration. But why we can’t stand up to express our opinions ? Maybe we don't brave enough to do so, lack confidence, or any other reasons. In my pointof view, most of us don’t know how to say or what to say. In a word, we lack the ability to express ourselves clearly. How to develop this ability? I think the most important thing is to broaden our eyes, namely to enrich our knowledge.For example, when we talk about a certain topic, if you don’t find some information related to the topic or even can’t make sense of the topic, how toexpress your opinion.

What I want to say is knowledge is power.
