But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ---Matthew6:33
When we hear Jesus’s words, they are revolutionary and unheard of. Jesus says, “seek first the kingdom of God.” Our theory is just the opposite. Even the people who are the most thoughtful spirit would say, “I must earn so much money. I must have food and clothing.” What matters most in life is not the kingdom of God, but how to make a living. But Jesus reversed the order. Build a good relationship with God first and make it a priority in your life. Don’t turn your attention to other things.
“Don’t worry about your life…” The Lord points out that there is no reason for us to worry about life. He didn’t say that blessed was the man who thinks nothing, for such man is foolish. Jesus taught his disciples to think of their relationship with God as the center of life and everything else as the center of nothing. Jesus said here that didn’t make what you ate or drunk in your life as a determining factor, but focused on God. Some people do not pay attention to diet, and incur the damage. Some people do not pay attention to the clothes, but untidy. They all ignored earthly things, but God makes them bear it. Jesus means to put the relationship with God first and everything else secondary. It is the strictest discipline in the life of the believer that let the holy spirit incorporate the teaching of Jesus’s words into us.
Dear God, this morning, isolate me from the strange sights and sounds; free me from what is connected to the present and the recent, and fill the day completely with your spirit.
