Brinell hardness measurement method is applicable to cast iron, non-ferrous alloy, various annealing and quenching and tempering steels. It is not suitable to measure samples or workpieces that are too hard, too small, too thin and do not allow large indentations on the surface.
In general, the smaller the Brinell hardness value, the softer the material, and the larger the indentation diameter; conversely, the larger the Brinell hardness value, the harder the material and the smaller the indentation diameter.
The advantage of Brinell hardness measurement is that it has high measurement accuracy, large indentation area, can reflect the average hardness of the material in a wide range, the measured hardness value is also accurate, and the data repeatability is strong.
