    总结感悟

PLATEAUS: rapid improvement at start → the improvement stops →  most people think they have hit some sort of implacable limit → stop trying → settle down to life on that plateau.

This is the major reason that people in every area stop improving.

Go beyond the plateau: challenge yourself in different ways.(focus on your training, figure out what stop you move forward exactly, make specific plan, practice)

    How to maintain motivation?

1、strengthen the reasons to keep going

Good planning, develop habits, minimize the influence of the things that distract you.

The SKILL itself can become part of the motivation ( pleasure, pride, identity changes)

A BELIEF that you can succeed.(家长多鼓励孩子对孩子的成长绝对有帮助)

Social motivation→ approval and admiration of others;join group

    2、weaken the reasons to stop

maintain focus:general physical maintenance (enough sleep, keep healthy)

limit the length of practice sessions to about 1 hour.

set things up:infinite→ clear steps (concrete and encouraging),so you can see how far you have progressed.(联想到玩游戏的段位)

There is no reason not to follow your dream.

    word and expression

Runners and other athletes find that they become inured to the pain associated with their exercise.

Both your body and your mind will habituate to the practice.

    inured

If you are inured to something unpleasant, you have become used to it so that it no longer affects you. (FORMAL)

    >Doctors become inured to death.

    habituate

verb.(chiefly Zoology)make or become accustomed or used to something

    >she had habituated the chimps to humans.

    inure habituate都有“使习惯于”的意思,但是inure适用于不愉快的(unpleasant)事情。

    【词根词缀】

    habit=dwell,表示”居住”

    habit   n 习惯(住一个地方=习惯了)

    habituate   v 使习惯于(habit习惯+uate)

    habitual   a 惯常的(habit+ual)

    habitant   n 居住者(habit+ant人=住的人)

    habitat   n (动植物)居住地(habit+at表示地方=住的地方)

    cohabi  t v 同居(co 共同+habit=共同住一起)

    inhabit   v 居住(in里面+habit=住里面=居住)

    inhabitant   n 住户,居民(inhabit+ant)

    uninhabited    a杳无人迹的(un无+inhabit居住+ed =无人居住的)
