今天还是说经济学人这一期的politics this week

第一小篇讲的是美国总统竞选的爱荷华党团会议(lows caucuses)

我们来看几个好词

1. nominate 为动词，表示【提名，推荐】=propose; 还可以表示【任命，委派】=appoint; 还可以作【挑选，指定】=select

原文是这样说的：The lows caucuses, the first stage in the race to nominate presidential candidates, were a mess.

2. Presidential 是一个形容词表示【总统的】，同根词有president  【总统/董事长/校长】和presidency【总统/董事长/会长，大学校长职位】

3. Dodgy 这个词表示 not working well; not in a good condition 【 有毛病的；运转状况不良的】，也可以表示suspicious 【可疑地，狡猾的】，还表示【冒险的，困难的】

文中用这个词来修饰这个app, a dodgy app 就表示 【不靠谱的的应用软件】

4.insanely 这个词的词根是insane【疯狂的；精神病的】, 文中的 ‘an insanely complex voting system’这里的insanely我们可以理解为very 或者extremely

5. moderate 这个词有好几个词性，最常见的是作为形容词，表示【适度的，中等的；温和的；合理的。作为动词，表示【缓和，使适中；主持】，作为名词表示【持温和观点者（尤指政见)】
