CHRISTMAS

Christmas is both asacredreligious holiday and a worldwide cultural andcommercialphenomenon. For twomillennia, people around the world have beenobservingit with traditions and practices that are both religious andsecularin nature. Christians celebrate Christmas Day as theanniversaryof the birth of Jesus, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of Christianity. Popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Father Christmas!
