For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory to God. ---2-Corinthians1:20
The parable Jesus spoke in Matthew 25 was a warning that we could be wrong about our own powers. The parable was not related to the gifts of nature, but to the gifts of the holy spirit. The spiritual ability is not measured by the knowledge or intellect, but by God’s promise. If we receive less than God wants us to receive, we will complain about God after a short time, just as the servant complaints about his master. “You expect so much from me, but you don’t give me enough ability; you are too demanding; You put me in this position, I can’t be loyal to you.” Don’t let your natural abilities limit you. If we receive the holy spirit, God wants his work to be manifest in us.
But the servants were full of themselves, and reproached their masters everywhere. “Your requirements are out of proportion to the talents you have endowed me with.” God said, “Seek first my kingdom and my righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Have you been sad and worried and blasphemed God? Worry means that the servant is thinking, “I know you will leave me in my hour of need.” A person who is lazy by nature always finds fault and says, “I have no chance at all.” A man who is spiritually inactive also finds fault with God. Lazy people always like to go his own way; he has original ideas.
Don’t forget that spiritual ability is measured by God’s promise. Can God fulfill his promise? The answer depends on whether we receive the holy spirit or not. 工 Dear God, may you be with us today in truth---and may the joy of the holy spirit be all around us.
