还在用“I’m fine, thank you”吗?

There are some expressions commonly used by English learners but not by native speakers. We can always hear someone saying "I'm fine, thank you, and you", but is it really the case? We were indeed taught to say it in textbooks when we were in primary school. But, there's a huge "but" here.

    How are you?

    "How are you"的几种回答

    01

    I'm doing great, thanks. You?

When someone asks you "how you are doing", it's normally polite to ask back. You can say "you", "and you", "and yourself", "yourself" or "how are you" to ask back nicely.

    02

    I'm alright, thanks. Yourself?

"Alright" means "satisfactory" or "okay". We oftentimes feel just ok. It's just one of the days, nothing special.

    03

    I'm doing pretty good. Yourself?

Another expression to say this satisfactory condition.

    04

    I'm not doing that great.

If you are not doing good, you can use this expression. It's just the negative one of the first sentence written above.

    05

Things have been better, what about you?

In other words, you are not in your best condition.

    01

    How are you?

    e.g.

    -How are you?

    -I'm doing great, thanks. You?

    02

    How's it going?

    e.g.

    -How is it going?

-It's going pretty good, thanks. Yourself?

    03

    How are you doing?

Native English speakers nearly never say "so-so" to imply a normal condition.
