I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. --- Galatians 2:20
A spiritual imperative is to pronounce death on sin. It is the conviction of new faith in all feeling and in all reason to sin. The sin is sovereignty over one’s rights and interests. Paul said that he had been crucified with Christ; he didn’t say that he had decided to imitate Christ or he would strive to follow Christ, but he thought he was dead with Christ. Whenever I make this spiritual choice and put it into practice, for in me is the completion of what the Christ has done for me on the cross. I voluntarily submit to God so that the Holy spirit may add the holiness of Jesus Christ to me.
“But I am alive now…”, I still exist, but the main stream of life, which governed my disposition, changed sharply. The human body remains, but the former sovereignty of Satan has been destroyed.
“Now I am living in the flesh…”. This is not the life I desired or prayed for, but the life I am now living, the life seen by others, “living by faith in the son of the Lord.” The faith is not Paul’s faith in Jesus Christ, but the faith that the son of the Lord has shared with him. Faith in the son of God is no longer to believe in faith, but beyond all perception, like the faith of the son of the Lord.
Dear God, I praise you. through Christ Jesus our Lord, the way we have walked is full of mercy, kindness, grace and miracles. I wish I will be sensitive to what you have done, and my grateful heart is more like Christ.
