In the past, young people depended too much on their parents to make decisions for them; today young people are better able to make decision about their own lives.

As time flies by, when the new generation are eagerly to show their own power, some inevitable contradictions are invoked between them and the old generations who cultivated them. Thus, who should pave the way in front of the new generations has always been a hot topic. While in the old era, when all the decisions were made by the most elder person in a large family, the young people had few chances to speak for themselves, in the modern period, we have indeed seen a various kinds of new lives, driven by the new idea from the young people themselves.
Granted, in the old era, the youth were more depended on their parents because they had less opportunities to get access to the outside world, with the only resource of information they could collect being their parents. This phenomenon, however, gradually disappears because of the flourish of multiple kinds of new media. Thus, with more information input, the new generations can create their own opinion regarding to events in the society, not limitted by the subjective words getting from their parents. For example, in the 1970s, when my parents were at their childhood, the only resource for them to know the world was the fairytales told by my grandparent, so that they constructed their world and their judgement based on what they were taught. By contrast, recently, with various sorts of shows available on the TV, young children are more flexible to choose what they prefer to absorb. It is highly possible that they may be charmed by some superstar whose behaviors are disliked by parents, which turns out to be a huge difference between the behavioral protocol of the young generation and the old ones.
Moreover, because of the prevailance of high level education, children nowadays are more easily to get knowledge solid enough for them to make their own decision on their life without going into a wrong way. To be specific, the career, for which they will dedicate their whole life, can nowadays be chosen by the students own. For instance, in the old time, because of the limitation of education, the child from a blacksmith family could get access to no skills to sustain his own life but working with steels. Nonetheless, in modern age, a child from the furtherest corner of the world has the opportunity to learn how to do calculus in his dream university, and can consequently, start his own career as a teacher in a famous school, which may be unimaginable for his father, a peasant who spent more than thirty years on the farmland. What can be drawn from this example is that the availability of new skills provides the youth a brave new world in front of them whereto develop their own interest and life unfetteredly.
Therefore, as a conclusion, we can see that because more information and education resources are open to the modern generation, there, apparently, exist a lot amount of new chances for the youth to make their own decisions and draw a colourful picture of life with their own hands.
