These animals were either abandoned by their owners for various reasons, or accidentally lost by themselves, and some came from the reproduction of stray animals themselves. Since the beginning of their wandering life, cats and dogs face the threats of hunger, disease, and traffic flow every day, and they must also prevent people from hunting and abuse. Except for a few lucky ones who are adopted by individuals or rescue organizations, others are in harsh environments every day and struggling to survive. The harsh living environment has greatly reduced the life span of animals. Many non-profit organizations have discovered the benefits of adoption and have carried out a lot of publicity on the internet. Therefore, “ Use adoption instead of purchase” has become a familiar slogan for pet lovers. In the meantime, more and more people realized the importance of adoption instead of purchase.
But some pet lovers also mentioned that they prefer to buy pets instead of adopting for the below reasons :1. The process of adoption is complicated and may have risks of concealing the pet adopters’ personal information. Usually, they need to fill in a form including any personal information, such as ID, real name, home address, company address. 2. The adoption center needs to visit the adopted animals from time to time, which may not be convenient for the adopters. 3. Mentally uneasy feelings. The adopter sometimes may feel own something to the adoption center. Sometimes, they need to spend more to donate goods or money to the adoption or rescue centers. 4. Some pet lovers maybe are not qualified to adopt a pet from these adoption centers technically or financially. 5. Someone may ask the adopted pets back after for a while which hurt the feelings of the adopter. 6. Some can not find the pure breed from the adoption or rescue centers.
Therefore, some pet lovers choose to buy pets from the market. However, they still feel struggling to get proper pets as they are lack experience to tell if the pets are healthy.
