1. copper，brass，bronze
copper 纯铜，即直接开采出来的铜，俗称紫铜，
brass 黄铜（铜锌合金 an alloy of copper and zinc）
bronze 青铜（铜锡合金 an alloy of copper and tin )
中世纪时，人们还分不清铜锡合金和铜锌合金的区别，当时统称为 brass.
衍生出的词义：
cop 警察（copper 的缩写，因为从前警察的制服用的是铜扣）。
brass 高级军官（因其佩戴金黄色勋章）, 铜管乐器。
bronze 常用于形容人的肤色，尤指久晒之后的古铜色。
Police brass warn the public against a possible summer crime wave. 高级警官警告民众提防夏季犯罪高峰。

brassy 是形容词，表示“黄铜的，黄铜色的”。由于黄铜似金而非金，brassy 还表示“华丽而廉价的，艳俗的“。
2. “我喜欢这里” 怎么说？
不能说 “I like here.”, 而要说 “I like it here.”， 因为 here 不是名词，不能做 like 的宾语。
3. parking 不能表示 “停车场”
parking 这个词不能单独使用表示停车场。
“停车场”, 美国人说 parking lot. 英国人说 car park. 也可以写作 carpark.
The carpark was full when I left about 10:45.
I found a parking lot two blocks up the street.
但是 parking 可以表示 “停车位” ，且多用作不可数名词。
Some resturants provide free parking for customers.
There‘s plenty of parking behind the office building.
