Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the 19th century American poets, wrote voice of the Night, Ballads and other poems, Evangeline and the song of Hiawatha. And today I want to talk about this poem I shot an Arrow, which is lyric poem. The author use the image of "short an arrow" and "sing a song" to praise the long living of friendship. When arrow is shot, there is no where to find it. When a song is sang, it soon disappeared in the air. But when narrator find the arrow and song is disappeared forever, he find that arrow is in the bough and song is in the heart of a friend, which exhibit the theme of this poem that friendship is long living.

This poem has three stanza, each with four lines. It is imabic tretameter and with a rhyme scheme of aabb aacc ddee.

Longfellow also wrote a poem A psalm of Life. This poem is very active and passionate. It tell us to act positively and never wait and idle our time away. The meaning of life is created by ourselves.

This poem is trochaic tetremeter, which creates a powerful atmosphere.
