Georgian Hazelnut Exports Up 28%

According to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA), from August 1, 2021 to February 6, 2022, Georgia exported 19.4 thousand tons of hazelnuts which is a 28% improvement compared to the same period of last year. The value of exported hazelnuts has increased by USD 8.5 million (11%).
According to MEPA, the main destination of Georgian hazelnuts is the European Union market, including Italy (8,075 tons), Germany (3,666 tons), Spain (591 tons), Czech Republic (489 tons), Poland (379 tons), Lithuania (393 tons), France (375 tons), Bulgaria (144 tons), Greece (71 tons), Latvia (70 tons), Estonia (98 tons), Belgium (41 tons), Hungary (22 tons), Croatia (20 tons).
Hazelnuts are exported from Georgia to the following non-EU countries: Armenia (1,335 tons), China (785 tons), Russia (422 tons), Ukraine (361 tons), Algeria (241 tons), Saudi Arabia (326 tons), Belarus (251 tons), Iraq (168 tons), Switzerland (173 tons), Mexico (120 tons), Canada (120 tons), Argentina (105 tons), Azerbaijan (82 tons), United Arab Emirates (75 tons), Kazakhstan (45 tons), Turkey (92 tons), Uzbekistan (66 tonnes), Tunisia (27 tonnes), United Kingdom (22 tonnes), Kyrgyzstan (44 tonnes), Jordan (30 tonnes).
MEPA also reports that, from August 1, 2021 to February 6, 2022, Georgia exported USD 3.2 million worth of apples. According to the Ministry, exported apples amounted to 4,928 tons and were almost completely exported to the Russian Federation (only 6 tons of apples exported to Armenia).
