The salamander（火蜥蜴，蝾螈） might not encounter food for several months, so when something does come along it can't afford to miss it. It's astonishing that these extraordinary cave dwellers manage to survive at all.

蝾螈数月不食，因为找不到食物。故凡有路过活物，皆是美餐，绝不错过。这种非凡的洞穴者，绝处逢生，令人惊叹。

But one cave is so inhospitable that one would not expect it to contain any life whatsoever. The water flowing out of the Villa Luz cave in Mexico is actually colored white with sulphuric acid（硫酸）.

而且，有个洞穴，环境恶劣，不宜生存。墨西哥的威利卢斯洞穴，流出白色的液体，实际上是腐蚀性硫酸。

Explorers entering this dangerous cave must wear respirators and carry monitors. Poisonous gases rise to fatal levels so quickly that an early warning system is essential.

探险家进入这个危险洞穴，必须穿戴呼吸器，并且携带监视器。毒气含量升高，很容易达到致命的水平，没有一个预警系统，那简直是找死。

Bats survive by staying close to the skylights, but venturing deep into the cave is very dangerous indeed. The source of these toxic fumes（烟雾或气体，特指难闻且有害的烟雾或气体） lies several miles below.

蝙蝠依靠洞口的天窗为生，然而投入洞穴，它们实际上险死还生。致死烟雾的来源，主要是几公里之外的地底下。

明明有话说：

我们去欣赏这样一部《行星地球》纪录片，最大的震撼，恐怕还是感受到生命的顽强，还有地球风景的绝美。

蝾螈几个月没吃饭，等待的就是一餐过路的活物，不管路过的是何种动物，皆是它一定要得到的美食。顽强若斯，丝毫不比冬眠了大半年的北极熊差多少。

还有在硫酸毒物中讨生活的蝙蝠，把不准什么时候吸够了毒气，一头栽进了硫酸的池子。

敬畏生命，就是敬畏自己；敬畏生命，就是敬畏生命地球；敬畏生命，就是热爱生命本身的一种体现。
