专有名词如Lincoln, Asia,但某些地理名词需要加定冠词如The Yellow River, the Netherlands,
由普通名词构成的定冠词多数要加the：The People’s Republic of China, the United States, the Phoenix(Theatre), the Labor Monthly
抽象名词前一般不加冠词：Necessity is the mother of invention.
当一个抽象名词不是用于一般概念，而是表示特定内容，尤其是有限制性定语修饰的时候,常常需要加定冠词。
It was now the time of the spring rains.
关键看是泛指还是特指：She loves music. / He was intoxicated by the music.
抽象名词与量化有关的时候也会加上不定冠词：Jim has had a brilliant success.
物质名词前一般不加冠词如：Wheat is grown mainly in the north.
其他：名词表示职位时，前面一般用定冠词修饰，如Jim succeed his father as president of the company.
