It is known among Chinese people as "Liǎnghuì", which means the "two sessions", the National People's Congress (or NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC).

这就是两会，中国每年最重要的政治活动之一，包括了全国人民代表大会和全国人民政治协商会议。

The NPC, with its 3,000 or so deputies, has the power to supervise other national organs of state and ensure that the government runs in accordance with the will of the people.

这其中，近3000名全国人大代表的被赋予权力依照人民的意愿来监督国家权力机构。

It is these deputies who have the power and responsibility to ensure China makes the right decisions.

这些代表就是有责任确保这个国家做出正确决定的人。

From amending and supervising the enforcement of the Constitution, to electing the president,the NPC and its Standing Committee has guaranteed that state power is always held by the people.

从通过修订和监督宪法的执行，到选举国家主席，中国的全国人大及其常委会保证了国家权力被人民掌控。

Its deputies come from all walks of life, they are scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, migrant workers, doctors, artists and civil servants,to name just a few.

There are deputies who represent the interests of millions of farmers amid China's rapid urbanization.
