现在不管是在我们中国人还是老外的情感观念里，普通的约会和恋爱是有很大差别的, and there are certain degrees of "labels" that people feel comfortable with putting on a relationship at certain points in time.
Dating someone
Dating大家都认识的，约会，出来吃个饭，看个电影什么的，但是没有明摆着说什么喜欢你，要跟你在一起
可以说：
I’m dating someone.
I have a date tonight.
Date还可以指约会的对象
He is my date.
She is my date.
Seeing someone
Seeing someone要比dating someone的程度要深一点，if you’re seeing someone, it means you’re involved with someone, not necessarily exclusive, but you’re interested in the possibility.
