Joysa or Joyce

Today I have some sharings exclusively about my former supervisor.

When I was in Singapore, she was one of the impressive friends I get along with. Not just because we worked together nearly every day, she, my supervisor, is that inspiring people to inspire you to think deeper.

Actually she and me have something in common even though we two seldom had a conversation. But we both observed and got more information from other co-workers. Somehow we are fairly familiar with each other.

It seems very weird that a supervisor does not talk with her staff, but actually I am one of them. And every time she had something to inform me or want me to do, she would ask another staff to tell me, instead of talking with me directly.

And sometimes if I had something to let her know, I would purposely tell that staff, and then she knew it at once. It is like a connecting medium between us for that staff.

But for a short or long period, usually after a meeting she attended, she would make a talk with me privately about my recent peformence and her attitudes, together with some provocative instructions. During the conversation, she always exaggerated my improper behaviors and denied my any improvements. She wanted to discourage me so that I would do as she told totally, or it is just like she bullied me to do everything as she leaded me. But I never gave in.

However, there were times I can learn from her in some ways. For example, when I worked there in the first few days, she told me the products knowledge and also, the manners and humbleness. Be modest and keep learning. After being familiar with the working routine, I sometimes just did not want to do or did something later. What she told me is the  initiative. It can also be applied on my daily studying. It is my willingness to learn more and my curiosity to know more that stimulate me to improve better.

Check before talk. Think before talk. This is another time she told me when we two argued about something she knows more than me.

She is such an inspiring friend that I will value what she told me valuably.
