The Thirteen Ways to Observe Xiling Snow Mountain

Since Du Fu saw the Xiling Snow Mountain

The snow on the mountain has never melt down

Du Fu wrote down pure poems with his pure observation

Which makes Xiling Snow Mountain shine and

Ignites his passion

And love

Actually, before he saw Xiling Snow Mountain

It is always situated there

Dark clouds mixed with white clouds

West wind mixed with east wind

You mixed with me

It is still there at present or in the future

It has to be there

Yet gradually uneasy to be seen

Just like a white king standing out of the history

More and more away from Chengdu

Its beauty keeps away from the beauty of Chengdu

Snow on the mountain keeps away from that of Chengdu

Don’t blame the air

Don’t blame the land

Don’t blame the noises

Don’t blame the gradually aged

Retina

Our confused lives

Remote ideal

Our lost youth

Endless desires

Our veiled mirrors

And unopened west windows

How many deep valleys does it have

Between Xiling Snow Mountain and Chengdu

How much gap does it remain

Between mountain and us

While the mountain may not be willing to meet you

You show respect to it

While the mountain may not respect you

The sown mountain on Xiling

When it comes to the sunrise and the sunset

It is silver, lucky and regretful

The elixirs of life

Eat one and smell once

It is strong enough to be immortal

If you yearn for splendid views that no one sees before

If you are eager for grand ice and snow

You must suffer from trials and hardships

You must weep

And even be damned with your bad luck

Be lonely with the mountain

Collapse with the mountain

Stand still with the mountain

Bear something with the mountain

Reflect with the mountain

It is better to turn yourself

Into a part of the mountain

Your eyes and heart

Your breath and experience

Will be full of pure snow

As the symbol suspending among the clouds

It is too high to reach

Yet close enough to touch it

Its glory full of proverbs

Is unreasonable

But go straight to the point

You're just like the lamp for Sichuan people which will never quench

Year after year, generation after generation

Hair turns silver owing to gloomy mood
