继去年两周备考托托之后，今天我开始了两周备考BEC的紧急求生。
财报课的期末考核不是考试，只要按照PPT的要求做完公司财报分析和期末的pre就可以。所以在这种BEC杀我的紧急时刻，我选择了在课上背单词和看书。
又是很久很久很久没有碰英语了，我已经快一个完整的句子都说不出来和只能生产简单句的智障了。
贴上去年MA之前的介绍长文，希望从今天开始偏离日渐庸碌的轨道。
Dear teacher
It is very possible that this self-introduction will be “the most surprising” among all the introductions you have read. I am confident enough that after you read it, you will see a persistent youth standing in front of you.
In March which just passed by, I participated in two model united nations conferences. They were 2018“De Yi” Model United Conference and the 6th Soochow University Model United Nations Conference.
In “De Yi”, I was the Foreign Minister of Canada and I was resident in the Special Committee, the Tender and Bid Committee. Projects which intended to get a loan from the pool of capital were taken into deliberation by all the representatives. Before the conference, I tried to predict all the questions which would be asked in the conference for my main tendering country Mexico to prepare the presentation better. Additionally, we cooperated and finished the design of the project together. In the conference, I listened to other introductions and searched for information in the Internet rapidly at the same time in order to point the defects with questions incisively afterwards. I answered the journalists’ questions in the question area with special care and caution because I knew that I was expressing the standpoint of a country. In the subscription of shares, I succeeded in buying more shares with less money to the largest extent.
It seemed that these scenes of conference were wonderful and amazing. Nevertheless, if I describe them in other words, everything will be less peaceful and doesn’t go in my favor. Because the rules of procedure of the Special Committee were issued late and I never experienced tender and bid, I must learn all the rules and study the knowledge which I knew nothing about within a short time. Everything started from scratch and I stayed up late until 1a.m. everyday that week. I rehearsed my project in the corridor of hotel at 12p.m. before the day of presentation just for the better performance nest day. In the 3days of conference, I never ate a complete or careful meal. At lunchtime, I protocoled the agreements with Vietnam and Singapore, biting rice cakes. Every single time I went to the question area, my hands would be sweaty because I was under great pressure that I was the information officer of Canada. My words should deliver the views of my country so they must be carefully considered and confirmed again and again in extremely short time.
After “De Yi”, I only had less than one week to prepare for my next conference. However, the most tiring thing for me was that I should finish my exam just after “De Yi” without any time to review. My life of the week was laborious. Full courses and self-adjustment were my Monday. Full courses again and homework were my Tuesday. On Wednesday, when I finished writing my feelings of “De Yi”, it was 3a.m. Reading background guide, searching information and writing position paper until 3a.m. were my Thursday, the deadline of position paper. Consultations with other representatives and searching further information for my preparation were my Friday. During conference, I must speak, take notes of other’s statements and write working paper at the same time. After the day’s meeting, I led the representatives of western countries, writing our draft resolution until 1a.m. and I revised until 2a.m. Next day, draft resolution must be updated with the contents on the conference. Eventually, the resolution was passed successfully. My effort with less than 14 hours’ sleep from Wednesday to Saturday paid off finally. I was rewarded “Best Paper”.
It is a challenge which outreaches imagination for many MUNers to participate in model united nations conference for two proximate weeks, but I am a successful challenger. Even I was tired, I chose to persevere in the process just for the simple reason that I am willing to make efforts for the things I love. I learn to search information quickly, consult and negotiate effectively, express my views clearly and write papers systematically. And most importantly, I know how to manage my time. All of these can be the reasons why I insist on participating in model united nations conference. Though there is no chance of the papers of the model conferences being published and the papers will never make a difference in the outside world, I don’t think that they have no meaning. Participating in these conferences makes me feel that I am a citizen of the world and I am giving my own solution for the problems which actually exist in today’s world. To be honest, it is my style that I will always spare no effort for the things I choose and the faith I believe. When I was in high school, I did four extra English readings everyday whenever it was just to improve my English skills, gaining the second prize of the 8thSFLEP National Foreign Language Contest on provincial level. During this winter holiday, I spent 20 days to learn TOFEL on my own. I often felt hopeless after TPO, but I would start the next exercise after a little break. Finally, I got 92 in my first TOFEL test. I ran every night when I was in high school. I remember that I sweated even it was 4 degrees below zero. I once read a sentence which said by Yuancao Yang that “in this world, nothing can beat a woman who can run a marathon.” As a result, I challenged the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon and I succeeded finishing the race in 2h33min55s.
It is undeniable that there are many differences between MODEL APEC and MUN. However, I am also ready to try my best and spare no effort for my MODEL APEC. The difficulty of speaking English will never stop my steps. I will face all the difficulties with bravery and wisdom and I will negotiate, cooperate and express for my region, my country and our beautiful world. And during this process, I will be a better man.
