This term, we have learned the biography of Benjamin Franklin.We knew that he is one of the most great founding father of America.He joined the revolution of independence and the making of constitution.And he is also a scientist which have contributions on electricity.But he use “printer” to cal himself in his whole life, which made a frugal and a realism image of America.
Ben is a man of great wisdom often appears slow-witted.Actually his 13 virtues was not complete, because he disdainful of himself in youth.
The point that impressed me is his thought.The founding of America has a part depends on it.BF believed in Deism. he was influenced by enlightenment and the thoughts of pragmatism.He believes that human beings can use their own reason to build a country. He made club Junto in order to create an environment to discuss Nature biology. The power of science and reason is the weapon of future discovery process.
In his diplomatic career, he studied how to integrate into the upper society of French by learning fashion trends and achieve the goal of gaining supplies in the War of Independence. An ambassador is not that easy to did. Also his Dressing appearance show the freedom of America(like a fancy hat that made by animal skin), which made French want to help and gave suppliers to US.He never tried to force French, instead he knew what French want and their benefit. To interact with them, show what American like and show the cultural recognition of French is the best way.
PS: Regarding BF and his son's break, I think he did not do what a competent father should do. Although this is a personal political stance choice, I don't know if he has thought about why his son is like this. If a person's family is not perfect, then they must have some degree of personal problems, which make his career uncertain.
