The Quarrel of the Colors
颜色的争吵
Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel.
从前，世界上的颜色进行过一次争吵。
Green said, "Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die."
绿色说：“显然，我是最重要的。我是生命和希望的象征。我被选作代表青草、树木和树叶。没有我，所有的动物都会死去。”
Blue interrupted: "You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea.
蓝色打断它说：“你只想到了土地，想想天空和海洋吧。
It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."
水是生命的基础，是由云彩从深海带上来的。没有我，你们什么都不是。”
Yellow chuckled（咯咯的笑）, "You are all so serious. I bring laughter, fun and warmth into the world.
黄色咯咯地笑着说：“你们都太严肃了。我给这个世界带来了欢笑、乐趣和温暖。
The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, and the stars are yellow.
太阳是黄色的，月亮是黄色的，星星也是黄色的。
Every time you look at a sunflower（向日葵）, the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun."
每次你看着向日葵，整个世界都开始微笑。没有我就没有乐趣。”
Orange started next to blow her trumpet（自吹自擂）, "I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious, for I serve the needs of human life.
橙色马上开始自吹自擂：“我代表着健康和力量。我可能很稀少，但我很珍贵，因为我为人类的需求服务。
When I fill the sky as the sun rises or sets, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you."
当太阳升起或落下的时候，我充满了整个天空，我的美丽是如此引人注目，以至于没有人会想到你们。”
Red could stand it no longer he shouted out, "I am the ruler of all of you. I am the color of danger and of bravery（勇敢）. I am willing to fight for the truth. I am also the color of passion and of love."
红色再也忍不下去了，他喊道：“我是你们所有人的主宰。我代表着危险和勇敢。我愿意为真理而战。我也代表着激情和爱。”
Then came purple and indigo（靛蓝）…
然后紫色和靛蓝色也加入而争吵……
The colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder.
各种颜色们不停地自夸，每个人都深信自己无比优越。他们的争吵声越来越大。
Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening. Rain started to pour down heavily.
突然，天空出现了一道令人吃惊的闪电。大雨开始倾盆而下。
The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.
颜色们惊恐地蜷缩起来，相互靠拢以求安慰。
In the midst of the clamor（喧闹）, rain began to speak, "You foolish colors, fighting among yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest.
在一片喧哗声中，雨开始说话了：“你们这些愚蠢的颜色，都相互争斗着，每个人都想支配其它的颜色。
Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."
难道你不知道每个人都是天造地设，都是独一无二，彼此不同的吗？你们彼此牵手，到我这里来。”
Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands. They formed a colorful rainbow.。
颜色们按照要求去做，团结在一起，手拉手。他们形成了一道五彩缤纷的彩虹。
From then on, whenever a good rain washes the world, a rainbow appears in the sky, letting us remember to appreciate one another.
从那以后，每当一场大雨冲刷这个世界，天空就会出现一道彩虹，让我们记住要珍惜彼此。
