五逆十恶？five rebellious acts and the ten evils

🤲佛经或龙树菩萨、善导大师等历代祖师菩萨开示，往往都是以五逆十恶念佛作为宣扬例子。

In sutras or dharma words of Patriarchs of Pure Land Buddhism, we always found the example of those have committed the five rebellious acts and the ten evils (五逆十恶）who able to eliminate their sins by chanting Namo Amitabha buddha.

这不是鼓励我们造恶，而是因为肯定了、保证五逆十恶念佛都有效的话，就证明全法界的众生念佛统统有效了。

It does not mean to ‘encourage’ to commit sins, but to guarantee such persons (the most serious sins) able to benefits from chanting, that mean no beings will be left behind under the dharma of Amitabha Buddha.

如果以菩萨作为念佛例子，这不会让我们升起信心，因为一般人都达不到菩萨的标准的。

However, if we saying ‘Bodhisattva’ as the standard example of chanting, it normally will not convince people, since ordinary person cannot achieve the ‘Bodhisattva’ level.
