The eternal life

“As it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.” Philipplans1:20

By reading the previous scriptures, Paul didn’t know whether this was his last in prison. While awaiting the trial, he knew that he would either be released in court or executed, but he believed that the Lord would save him finally. He prayed that he would glorify Christ in his trial, whether alive or dead, without fear or shame of preaching the Christ. The result was that he was released. However, he was arrested again two or three year later. Because of his steadfast belief with his whole heart in the Christ, he could sustain himself in the face of adversity.

For those who don’t believe in the Lord, the life on the earth is everything. So, they naturally seek out money, fame, power, pleasure, which is valued in the eyes of the world. Christians should establish the eternal values like Paul and share the Christ with others. Only God can let us look at the life from an eternal perspective. The whole purpose of Paul’ life was to preach the Christ boldly and to live more like Jesus. So, Paul said with strong confidence that it was better to die than live. If you die, you are free from those worldly cares. you can see the Lord face to face. If you are not prepared for the death, you are not prepared for life. Once you decide the eternal goal, you will fear the Lord free. You will devote oneself to something of real value without any fear of death. 

 In real life, there are few Christians to live like Paul’s living philosophy. The purpose of Paul’s life is to love, worship and serve the Lord Jesus instead of fame and pleasure to live. He hoped his life to be like the Christ’s.

Sadly, non-Christians think that when they are alive, they should enjoy the benefit from the world. The benefit no longer exists if they die. In today society, taking about the death, none is not scared. For example, my grandfather has been 89 this year. He also scares the death. Last weekend, I took him to the Christ church to believe the Lord and let him have eternal expectation from the Lord…

Finally, I pray for my life. I thank God forgiving my sins and receiving me as His daughter. I often take some mistakes whatever in life and at work. Thanks for God’s reminding. I desire God can lead me to be a real Christian to glorify the Lord on doing everything. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
