Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. –Matthew11:28
Do I want to go there? You can go now. The truly great questions of life are few and far between, and those questions are answered through the words of “come to me.” Not doing this, not doing that, but it’s that “come to me.” As soon as I came to Jesus, my life would be lived according to my true desire. I will truly turn away from sin and find the music given by the Lord.
Did you ever come to Jesus? Beware of the stubbornness of your heart, which let you rather do many other things than “come to me” like an innocent child. If you really want to end your sin, you must come to Jesus. Jesus Christ used himself as a touchstone. Notice how he used the word of “come”. At the most unexpected moment, the Lord’s faint voice say, “come to me” and you are immediately attracted to him. Contacting with Christ will change everything. Keep from being holy and wise and become foolish. Come to Jesus and do all things he says to you. The attitude of “come” is that willing to give up everything completely and aspire to deliver everything to him.
“I will give you rest” means that I will support you. It’s not “I’ll put you to bed, hold your hand, hum a lullaby and send you to sleep. But “I want to make you out of bed, out of decadence and exhaustion, out of the state of half-life deathless. I will fill you with the spirit of life, and you will have a complete life.” We sometimes say miserably, “suffer for God’s will!” How could the such attitude manifest the supreme vitality and power of his son?
Dear God, like showers that water the earth, as the dew fell upon Israel. God, these words came to my mind this morning with a sweet urgency. May you come upon us today like showers and dews to nourish, shape an bless us. I have come before you with great and joyous expectations.
Go to the Lord-2
