在国外旅游，很多人觉得自己英语口语是完全没问题的。当你去逛市场，想吃桃子却没见着，你问老板有没有“桃子”，假如老板有点耳背，他会不会以为这个单词是“peach”还是“pitch”？
显然他会搞错“peach”和“pitch”，这两个单词听起来很像，但是意思又大不相同哟！
1、桃子读peach 还是 pitch ？
peach [piːtʃ] 桃子
pitch [pɪtʃ] 投球
例句：
The peach trees promise a rich crop this year.
今年桃子丰收在望。
He bunted at the first pitch.
他触击第一个投球。
把peach读成pitch，老板真的给个球你了！
2、伸出读reach还是rich？
reach [riːtʃ] 伸出
rich [rɪtʃ] 肥沃
例句：
She reached out her hands and held her mother.
她伸出双手抱住她的母亲。
This farm has very rich land.
这个农场的土地非常肥沃。
两个单词意思可大不相同，弄错麻烦可大了！
3、Look 还是 luke傻傻听不清楚？
look [lʊk] 看
luke [lu:k] 路加福音
例句：
Look straight ahead and you'll see the post office.
往前看，你就会看到邮局。
And Luke recorded that in his gospel.
而路加在他的福音里记载了这点。
两个单词的意思是天渊之别，所以必须要搞清楚。
4、床单是sheet还是shit？
sheet [ʃiːt] 床单
shit [ʃɪt] 屎
例句：
She needle pointed her sheet.
她给她的床单刺绣上了花边。
Everything he touches turns to shit.
他碰到什么东西都变成屎。
记住，床单是sheet不是shit，不然你会遭罪的。
5、思考是think还是sink？
think [θɪŋk] 思考
sink [sɪŋk] 陷入
例句：
What makes you think so?
什么使你这样想呢?
Don't swill the tealeaves out into the sink.
别把茶叶冲到水槽里。
