My major
My major is seed science and engineering. It is based on plant genetics to study the theory and technology of seed production, seed quality, and seed processing, packaging and storage to improve seed commodity. With the rapid development of modern science and technology, seed engineering has become one of the important driving forces for the development of agricultural economy, and the requirements for seed processing quality have also increased. In this context, the overall development of seed industry has gradually become the future trend of seed industry development. In my opinion, my major has the following positive effects on China's future development.
First, in terms of genetic breeding, different adaptive seed types can be cultivated according to different soil types. Food is the first thing for the people, and seed is the first thing for the food. The development of seed industry is directly related to the food security of the country, and it is an important matter related to the national economy and people's livelihood. Just like Yuan Longping, the father of rice, he solved the problem of rice shortage in China, and then increased the world's food production. Secondly, in the aspect of seed storage, genetic technology is used to improve the quality of seeds so as to prolong the storage period of seeds. In this way, many endangered or nearly endangered seeds and species diversity can be preserved for future generations.
All in all, in the future, my major can not only guarantee the supply of food in China, but also make a great contribution to biodiversity.

我的专业是种子科学与工程,它是以植物遗传学为基础,研究各类作物种子生产,种子质量以及提高种子商品性的种子加工包装贮藏等理论与技术。随着现代科学技术的快速发展,种子工程已经成为了农业经济发展的重要推动力量之一,对于种子加工品质的要求也随之提升,在这样的背景下,种子产业整体性发展已经逐步发展成为了种子工程发展的未来趋势。在我看来,我所学的专业对于中国未来的发展的积极影响有以下几点。
首先在遗传育种方面,可以根据不同的土质类型培育不同的适应性种子类型。民以食为天,粮以种为先。种子产业的发展直接关系到国家的粮食安全问题,是关系国计民生的大事。就像水稻之父袁隆平一样解决水稻在中国的短缺问题,进而提高全世界的粮食产量。其次是在种子贮藏方面,通过遗传技术改善种子的质量从而延长种子的贮藏期限。这样就可以为子孙后代保留许多已经濒危或近乎濒危的种子,保留了物种多样性。
总而言之,在未来我的专业不仅能够保证中国粮食的供给量,而且能够在生物多样性方面做出巨大贡献。
