As a doctor, how does it feel when a patient comes to you with all the Googled knowledge?
I'm thinking, wow a patient who has done her homework. The patient who types in all of her symptoms into Google and comes up with a list of differential diagnoses— will end up having just that a partial list of possible diagnoses. Google cannot diagnose. There is no way that a computer can take 12 different symptoms and know how much weight to give it. For example a patient just started on medication for high blood pressure with headache and cough could be lead astray into web sites for brain tumor or asthma when she is experiencing a side effect of her blood pressure medication (lisinopril— causes an ace inhibitor cough). So no, I'm not worried. The computer is not going to replace a doctor anytime soon.
