Confucianism emphasizes the social responsibilities of man, while Taoism highlights naturalness and spontaneity of him. In comparision, Confucianism is more this-worldly, Taoism is more other-worlly. They rivaled but complemented one another. And in the later times, the two inclinded to each other.
