Sonnet 20是莎士比亚154首十四行诗中非常著名的一首，含有三个绝句和一个对联总共十四行，它遵循莎士比亚一贯的押韵方案，也就是abab cdcd efef gg。莎翁十四行诗的精美之处无需多言，这首Sonnet20的意味却值得一谈。
这是写给一个男人的诗，莎翁赞美他，他身上有着女子的气质，，他精神纯洁而又风度翩翩，造化却将他塑为男人。除了显而易见的遗憾，诗中还隐藏着一种精神之爱和一种时代之塞。“予我以爱吧，将情欲丢给她们。”无从得知他在诗中是否有意隐瞒什么，但作为一个人文主义剧作家，他表达了他的爱，一种至少精神上存在的爱。我无意讨论同性恋和人权，也不能逐句解析，但我想可以从这首诗来思考爱情。我最终一无所获，但不失望，我从中发现了诗于爱情的意义。
在无所谓区分同性恋和异性恋的时候，爱和诗就早已存在了。
