10月份的晨读是学习经典演讲I have a dream,这个月的目标主要是从演讲中积累精彩表达和句型,赏析用词和修辞,通过背诵内化素材,还可以从演讲中语音现象,提升语音流畅度。可概括为三点:1.读懂经典演讲,2.赏析背诵材料,3.学习语音。
此次晨读以“The Crack of Dawn”为名,取黎明破晓之意,只有朝着目标努力,曙光才会降临。
第一天学习演讲的前两段,直播结束后多次朗读背诵,默写如下:
I am happy to join with you today in what will go down history, as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Praclamation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
如上所示,独立宣言的拼写有误,需牢记。在晨读讲解前对语意是半懂的,晨读赏析后才发现很多语句前后的呼应,流畅性,还有一些词用得很巧妙。
逐句梳理知识点:
一、I am happy to join with you today in what will go down history, as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
1. happy可以用delighted glad excited elated joyful thrilled等词语来替换,但这里却用了非常简单的happy,其实是一种习惯用法,happy用在这里很真诚,这对我们有种启发,即语言要平实。
2. join with通过查字典可以找到它的用法及含义, join with someone in doing something,和某人一起做某事。
3. go down in history名垂万古,查词典可以了解它的含义,及英文释义。

二、Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
1. five score years ago一百年前,为何不用one hundred years ago,此处主要是马丁路德金致敬葛底斯堡演讲,一句话将大家带到一百年前的场景里,a great American指的就是林肯。
2. symbolic shadow就是塑像,就像下图一样

3. 韵律:symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the……,声音的美就在此处,很容易记住
4. Emancipation Proclamation /ɪˌmænsəˈpeʃən/ /ˌprɑklə'meʃən/奴隶解放宣言,固定搭配,记住即可。
5. 注意写法,a great American作为主语,主要信息和次要信息的分布,都是有层次的,注意插入语的使用,插入语可以减缓句子的节奏。
三、This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice.
1. momentous/mo'mɛntəs/重大的,decree/dɪ'kri/ 指的就是上文中的解放宣言,
2. great beacon light of hope希望的灯塔,可以通过搜索beacon light of hope来了解语意,如下图片,还能造句:Phenomenal English came as a light of hope guides us through darkness and despair.

3. sear灼烧、灼痛,水深火热,比较文学一点,写作中可以用到,withering让……枯萎的,杀伤力极强

四、It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
带来了黎明的曙光,此处的joyous与开头的happy互换就很不恰当,主要还是耳朵听到的感觉问题,注意end这个词的用法,When the song ends, people scatter曲终人散。
小结:① 能看懂,能读懂,不一定会用,必须要了解作者为何这么写;② 朗读的时候在介词处要做个停顿,介词如for要弱读;③ 注意文中的很多用词细节。
