So what’s the origin of this phrase? Originally it meant to feel seasick or to be adversely affected by bad weather.  It is said that in the old days, when a sailor was unwell, he was sent down below to help his recovery, under the deck and away from the weather.

这个短语最初是用来指人晕船或者受到恶劣天气的影响。后来也有人说旧时，当船上的水手生病的时候，就会被送到甲板底下休息，远离天气等的影响，好好休养恢复，所以under the weather就这样保留下来了。
