Patient定义之一：able to wait calmly for a long time or to accept difficulties, people’s annoying behaviour etc without becoming angry.
这个定义是“耐心”，即能够静静地等待很长时间，或者面对困难（比如别人的气惹等）时不恼怒。
Patient定义之二：“someone who is receiving medical treatment from a doctor or in a hospital ”，即“病人”。
同一个词，两种定义——耐心和病人。
看似没有联系，稍加对比，发现蛮有趣。
如果以上两种定义是相关的，那么
前面的people’s annoying behaviour，对应后面的medical treatment from a doctor，即
惹我们的人是“医生”，他们的存在是为了“治愈”我们。
同样，前面的wait calmly for a long time对应后面的receiving medical treatment in a hospital ”，即
社会是个“医院”，“就诊”时需要静静等待很长时间，因为不只是我们自己需要“诊治”。
之所以觉得有趣，是因为前后联系起来看，可以推导出下面这句话：
社会是个医院，别人惹我们，实际是在治愈我们。
真是应了一句话：
让你痛苦者，必使你强大。
